Captain Garik "The Face" Loran

Loran, Garik
this man, a native of Pantolomin, was best known as a child actor who worked in a multitude of Imperial propaganda films. His face became a symbol for the Empire, and his films were responsible for large jumps in Imperial recruitment. Just as he was trying to get into more teeen-aged roles, he was captured by Alliance extremists who showed him what the Empire was really all about before they planned to execute him for aiding the Emperor. An Imperial attack on the rebel outpost resulted in both sides being decimated, and Garik himself sustained multiple injuries. He hid from the remaining Imperial, and eventually made it back to Pantolomin. His parents then shipped him to their homeworld of Lorrd, when he recovered from his injuries and decided to join the Alliance. His "death" was reported shortly before the Battle of Yavin, and broke the hearts of many young girls. Among most of the Alliance personnel, Garik was known as "The Face" because of the popularity of his cherubic face, although the battle left him with a few scars. He bought his own A-Wing, and trained in it on his own. He eventually became a pilot with Comet Squadron, but was forced extra-vehicular in order to avoid a proton torpedo. In his debriefing, Edor Crespin told Loran that he'd never amount to much, and would never repay the debt he owed the Republic for serving the Empire. Loran snapped back, telling Crespin that he was "just following in his footsteps." Crespin demoted him from pilot ranks, and Loran thought he'd never fly again until he made the cut to join Wraith Squadron. Loran also served as te squadron's insertion expert and part-time cook. For his part in rescuing the Night Caller during Apwar Trigit's attack on Talasea, Face was promoted to Lieutenant. During this time, Face became good friends with Ton Phanan, as the two exchanged quips and developed a friendly rivalry. Their friendship was crushed when Phanan was shot down and killed over Halmad, despite the incredible effort Face put in to rescue him. Phanan, in his will, left Face a large sum of money, provided that he have the facial scars removed. If not, the money went to Loran's arch-nemesis, Tetran Cowall. So, Face had the surgery and retained the money. During this time, Face fell in love with Dia Passik. In order to infiltrate Warlord Zsinj's confidence, Face then assumed the identity of General Kargin, leader of the Hawk-bat Independent Space Force. He met several times with Zsinj, each time increasing the Warlord's belief that Kargin was truly independent. After the defeat of Zsinj at Kuat, Face was promoted to brevet Captain by Wedge, a position was was eventually made official by the New Republic after the Battle of Selaggis.

Bastion, capital of the Empire

Pellaeon, Gilad
elderly Imperial Navy Captain in command of the Chimaera, Pellaeon took the remnants of the Imperial fleet and retreated from the Battle of Endor. He had no desire to lead the Empire, but he felt it was his duty to keep the Imperial fleet together. Thus, when Grand Admiral Thrawn emerged from the Unknown Regions to take control of the Empire, Pellaeon was more than willing to turn the fleet over to Thrawn, despite Thrawn's obviously alien background. He served Thrawn well, respecting the alien's uncanny insights while providing tactical assistance when necessary. Following the death of Thrawn at the hands of his own bodyguard, Rukh, Pellaeon took Thrawn's remaining ships and fled to the Core Systems, where he came in contact with High Admiral Teradoc. The two marshalled a large fleet of Victory-class Star Destroyers, and rivaled Harrsk for leadership of the Imperial forces for a number of years. When Daala showed up and tried to combine the strengths of the feuding warlords, Pellaeon sided with Daala, who only wanted to restore the Empire. The two of them arranged a summit of all the warlords on Tsoss Station, but were forced to poison them all when they failed to cooperate. Pellaeon became Daala's first officer, and was placed in command of the remaining seventeen Imperial-class Star Destroyers. He was to be the primary attack for that assaulted the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. His attack was perfect, slipping into the system before the Jedi knew it. However, his Imperial conditioning failed to prepare him for the power of the Force. The Jedi, under the focus of Dorsk 81, used the Force to physically fling the entire Star Destroyer fleet out of the Yavin System, knocking out navigations and hyperdrives. Pelleaon was able to recover all his ships, as well as Admiral Daala's escape pod, before leaving to the system. After Daala's rescue, she resigned her command, and turned control of the Imperial fleet over to him. While he did not want to rule the Empire, this was the Battle of Endor all over again. He took the fleet back to the Core Systems to regroup. Pellaeon assumed the position of Supreme Commander of the Imperial Navy, and worked against all odds to rebuild the fleet. He spent several years trying to overcome the problems with the cloaking device, and eventually tested the Computer Combat Predictor. However, its inability to truly aid in a cloaked fight was the last straw in the back of the dwindling Imperial animal. He suggested to Moff Disra that the Imperial remnants should negotiate a surrender with the New Republic some ten years after Thrawn's death, hoping to obtain amnesty rather than execution. Although the majority of the Moffs were in agreement with the plan, Disra's own machinations kept him from wholeheartedly agreeing. Pellaeon began his attempts to contact the Republic by sending Colonel Vermel to meet with Garm Bel Iblis, but Disra captured Vermel before his message was fully delivered. Pellaeon, meanwhile, waited for Bel Iblis as Pesitiin, where Disra sent Zothip and the Cavrilhu Pirates to ambush him. Pellaeon's forces dispatched the pirates, but continued to wait for Bel Iblis. However, Bel Iblis was on a mission to Yaga Minor, so it was Ghent who actually received the truncated message from Vermel. He brought the message to Leia Organa-Solo, who agreed to meet with Pellaeon. Their initial talks were tentative but promising, and both agreed to return to their sides and meet at a later date. Meantime, Pellaeon and Commander Dreyf discovered Disra's plans, and began to press the matter with the Moff. Pellaeon eventually won out over the renegade Moff Disra, and soon signed a peace treaty with the New Republic. He assumed command of what became known as the Imperial Remnant, maintaining a distanced relationship with the Republic. (HTTE, DFR, DFRSB, DS, SOP, VOF, DTR

Bastion
this planet, the capital world of the Bastion System and Braxant Sector, was the political heart of the Empire in the dark times following the death of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Its true name is a secret kept well-hidden by the Empire. It was controlled by Moff Disra, who retained control during the rise in power of the New Republic. It was on Bastion that the surviving Moffs met with Admiral Pellaeon to discuss a possible peace treaty with the Republic. (SOP)

Imperial-II class Star Destroyer  "Chimaera"
this Imperial-II class Star Destroyer commanded by Captain Pellaeon. It was used as Grand Admiral Thrawn's flagship, after Thrawn returned from the Unknown Regions to take control of the Empire some five years after the Battle of Endor. It is a ship which has survived numerous battles, most notably the Battle of Endor and the Battles of Sluis Van and Bilbringi. After Thrawn's death, Pellaeon retained command of the Chimaera, and used it as the command ship of the remaining Imperial fleet. However, as part of Operation Shadow Hand, the Chimaera was dispatched to capture the planet Duro. In the battle, the ship took heavy damage and had to be abandoned. The New Republic took possession of the ship and refitted it, but soon lost it - to Pellaeon himself - at the Battle of Gravlex Med. After the resolution of the Caamas Incident and the discredting of Moff Disra and Grodin Tierce, the Chimaera served as the site of the peace negotiations between Pellaeon and New Republic President Gavrisom. Booster Terrik and the "Errant Venture"

Terrik, Booster
a native of the planet Corellia, Booster was a smuggler and a starship pilot for hire. He was the original owner of the star yacht Pulsar Skate which he used in his endeavors. Following the death of Wedge Antilles' parents on Gus Treta, Booster helped Wedge hunt down the pirates that caused the incident. They never found them, though, because Hal Horn caught up with Booster and sentenced him to five years in the correctional facility on Kessel. When Booster got out, he made sure that his daughter, Mirax, was able to work on her own within the law, so that she wouldn't suffer his fate. When she became involved with Rogue Squadron - and specifically Corran Horn - Booster found himself assisting the son of the man who imprisoned him. Booster did much of this for Wedge's benefit, and was more than amenable to creating a smugglers' haven in the space station orbiting Yag'Dhul, in an effort to keep the Rogues hidden after they resigned their commission to the New Republic. Booster worked hard to make the station defensible, and even installed several operable but non-functional weapons implacements. He even found proton torpedoes and concussion missiles for the Rogue's X-Wings when none were available. In a bold plan, the Rogues left the station undefended and tried to draw Ysanne Isard's forces into a trap. Booster's false defenses led the Lusankya's Captain Joak Drysso thinking that he was coming under fire from nearly 500 missile launchers and forced him to flee. The short battle led Booster to capture the Star Destroyer Virulence when Ace Squadron was dragged out of hyperspace by the gravity shadows of the station and the huge Lusankya. Booster convinced Lakwii Varrscha that the Aces were part of his defenses, and she surrendered. Booster and the Aces then took the Virulence to Thyferra and helped turn the tide of the Battle toward the Rogues. After this heroism and smart thinking, Booster asked for the Virulence in return. Airen Cracken balked at first, but Corran Horn cited an obscure salvage law that required Cracken to acknowledge Booster's right to ownership. This surprised Booster, coming from his sworn enemy's son, but that surprise was quickly overshadowed by Mirax's engagement to Horn. Talon Kaarde helped swing the deal by removing the weapons on board and selling them back to the New Republic. Booster obtained the stripped-down Virulence, and renamed it the Errant Venture. He then gutted the ship and turned it into a huge, floating, general store for smugglers and other pilots. For many years, Booster was unable to turn a profit from the ship, and spent most of his credits just keeping it running. He was recruited by his daughter and Iella Wessiri during the investigation into the whereabouts of the Lusankya prisoners, and they discovered several of the plots laid out by Ysanne Isard's clone against Rogue Squadron. However, they were too late to rescue the X-Wings from Distna. They did manage to recover Wes Janson and Asyr Sei'lar, both of whom survived. They kept the secret of their survival when Mon Mothma announced that Rogue Squadron had been destroyed. Janson was returned to Coruscant, though Asyr asked to remain "dead" in order to help change Bothan society. When Borsk Fey'lya approached Booster with a job offer, Booster listened until he discovered that Fey'lya was looking for a Bothan body to take the place of Asyr's in the tomb of the Bothan Martyrs. Fey'lya hinted that any body, even that of a criminal assassinated by one of Booster's people, would suffice. Booster was appalled, and beat Fey'lya to within an inch of his life to show his disgust. Booster later told Iella that he'd rather have Fey'lya as a direcgt enemy, rather than as a player sneaking around in the shadows. Booster was again called upon to assist the New Republic, when the existence of the Camaas Document was revealed. Booster and the Errant Venture were recruited to become the Tyrannic, as part of a ploy to recover a copy of the document from Yaga Minor. They were nearly captured in the attempt, as the Imperial forces knew that the Tyrannic was cloaked over Bothawui. However, the intervention of Admiral Pellaeon swayed the battle to the Republic's side, and the group escaped.  (XWN, BW, SOP, VOF, IR, EVC)

Imperial-II class Star Destroyer "Errant Venture"
This was the name Booster Terrik used for the Imperial-II class Star Destroyer he obtained from the New Republic following the liberation of Thyferra. Formerly known as the Virulence, it was severely stripped of weaponry due to New Republic regulations for civilian ships. The interior of the vast ship was refitted to create a bazaar-like atmosphere, completely with food courts, multiple shopping levels, and several discretely-hidden conference rooms. The ship was a continual troublespot for Booster, as he tried to run it with a minimal crew and operations staff. Several systems, including weapons and turbolifts, were constantly under repair. Booster hired 200 Verpine technicians to upgrade the ship to workable order, a task which took them more that seven months to complete. Part of the ship's interior was gutted and formed into three entertainment and commercial levels - Black, Blue, and Diamond Levels - to cater to the wide variety of customers Booster attracted. He maintained a strong security force made up of humans and Weequays. When Grand Admiral Thrawn returned from the Unknown Regions to threaten the New Republic, Borsk Fey'lya campaigned for the Errant Venture to be nationalized into the Republic's fleet. However, Intelligence had trouble locating the ship. Once they found it, Booster agreed to the plan, provided that the ship be completely refitted and rearmed, with all modifications remaining intact after the battle. He also demanded the assignment in rank of Admiral. Fey'lya and the Ruling Council were forced to leave the ship alone, but Airen Cracken began sending out hints and rumors of the ship being used to track Thrawn. During the Caamas Incident, Booster reluctantly agreed to let Garm Bel Iblis use the Venture in a raid on the Imperial archives at Yaga Minor, in an effort to obtain a copy of the Caamas Document. Bel Iblis believed that the Venture could get close to the planet because none of its identification codes were known to the Empire, and he maneuvered Booster into agreement by claiming that the resulting civil war - which would begin if the Document weren't recovered soon - would series hamper his ability to do any business. Booster got a measure of revenge on Bel Iblis, though, because Bel Iblis was forced to upgrade the weapons and shields get them up to Imperial standards, and Booster was allowed to keep them. He even got a new paint job. In order to get the Venture close enough to Yaga Minor, Bel Iblis used ID codes from the Star Destroyer Tyrannic, which hadn't been seen in several months. This proved to be the flaw in their plans, since Moff Disra and Grodin Tierce knew that the Tyrannic was cloaked and hiding near Bothawui. (BW, SOP, IJ, VOF, IR, EVC, SBS)
